Official: Agriculture Ministry says opposes excises on sausages

MOSCOW, Nov 19 (PRIME) -- The Agriculture Ministry does not see introduction of excises on processed red meat products feasible, an official told PRIME on Monday, when newspaper Izvestiya reported that an expert government panel offered to introduce a 160 ruble excise on sausages and other types of processed red meat.

The ministry official said: “The ministry does not see the initiative feasible, justified and duly considered, including in the part of possible price risks for Russian consumers.”

A Finance Ministry spokesperson said that the ministry is unaware of the proposal.
